Oven Problems We Can Help With
Bunneys Appliance Service repairs ovens across Sydney, from common heating and temperature problems to more complex electrical and electronic faults. Modern ovens rely on heating elements, thermostats, temperature sensors, fans, switches and electronic controls working together, so a fault in one component can affect the performance of the entire appliance.
Our experienced technicians can identify the cause of the problem and provide the right repair solution for a wide range of oven faults, including:
Oven Not Heating
An oven that turns on but doesn’t produce heat is one of the most common faults we encounter.
The problem may be caused by a failed heating element, thermostat, temperature sensor, selector switch, wiring or electronic control component.
Our technicians can test the relevant components to identify what’s preventing the oven from heating correctly.
Oven Not Heating to the Correct Temperature
Does your oven feel too hot or not hot enough, despite being set to the correct temperature?
Temperature problems can result from a faulty thermostat, temperature sensor, heating element or control system. This can lead to longer cooking times, burnt food or dishes that remain undercooked.
Oven Cooking Unevenly
Food that’s cooked on one side but undercooked on the other can indicate an issue with heat distribution.
Depending on the oven, the cause could be a faulty element, fan, temperature sensor or another component affecting the circulation or distribution of heat throughout the oven cavity.
Oven Fan Not Working
Fan-forced ovens rely on a fan to circulate hot air and maintain consistent temperatures.
If the fan isn’t turning, is running intermittently or is making unusual noises, there may be a problem with the fan motor, bearings, wiring or associated controls.
Oven Showing an Error Code
Many modern ovens use error codes to identify detected faults.
An error code is useful diagnostic information, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the component named by the code is faulty. Testing may be required to determine the underlying problem.
Oven Won't Turn On
If the oven is completely unresponsive, the problem could involve the power supply, internal wiring, control board, selector switch, thermal protection or another electrical component.
Professional diagnosis can determine whether the fault is within the oven or elsewhere in the electrical supply.
Oven Element Not Working
Heating elements are subjected to repeated heating and cooling cycles and can eventually fail.
Visible damage, uneven heating or an oven that only heats using certain settings can indicate an element problem.
The element can be tested to determine whether replacement is required.
Oven Door Not Closing Properly
An oven door that doesn’t close or seal correctly allows heat to escape and can affect cooking performance.
The problem may involve worn hinges, a damaged door seal, alignment issues or another door component.
Repairing the door can help the oven retain heat and operate more efficiently.
Oven Making Unusual Noises
Some fan noise is normal, but grinding, scraping, rattling or unusually loud sounds should be investigated.
These noises may indicate a worn fan motor, damaged bearing, loose component or another mechanical problem.
Oven Display or Controls Not Working
Digital displays, touch controls, timers and electronic control panels can develop faults.
Symptoms can include blank displays, unresponsive buttons, incorrect settings or an oven that won’t operate even though power is available.

Oven Repair FAQs

If we need to order parts and return you will not be charged a second call out fee, only for additional labour and parts.
Do you offer same-day oven repairs?
In most cases, bookings can be attended same day, or within 24 hours, depending on technician availability and location.
What oven brands do you repair?
We service many major brands including Miele, Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, Westinghouse, Electrolux, Smeg, AEG, Samsung, LG and ASKO, along with numerous other manufacturers.
Why is my oven not heating?
A non-heating oven can be caused by a failed heating element, thermostat, temperature sensor, switch, wiring fault or electronic control problem. Testing is required to identify which component is responsible.
Why does my oven heat but not reach the correct temperature?
If your oven heats but doesn’t maintain the selected temperature, the problem may involve a thermostat, sensor, heating element or electronic control system.
Why is my oven cooking food unevenly?
Uneven cooking can result from poor heat circulation, a failed element, fan problems or inaccurate temperature control. A technician can test the oven to identify what’s affecting its performance.
Can you replace an oven heating element?
Yes. Faulty heating elements are a common oven repair. The technician can test the element and, if necessary, replace it with an appropriate component for the oven model, subject to parts availability.
Can you repair an oven fan?
Many oven fan problems can be repaired. The cause could be the fan motor, bearings, wiring or another component. The exact fault needs to be diagnosed before determining the required repair.
Is it worth repairing an older oven?
It depends on the oven’s age, overall condition, quality, parts availability and repair cost. An older, good-quality oven with a single repairable fault may still be worth fixing. If several expensive components have failed, replacement may make more sense.
Do I need to remove my built-in oven before the technician arrives?
No. Leave the oven installed as is. The technician can determine what access is necessary during the service visit.
